What is ASMC?
Several local and national
federal organizations offer benefits and services to civilian and military personnel. None, however, are
as specialized in the financial management career field as the American Society of Military Comptrollers. ASMC promotes education and supports the development and advancement of its civilian and military members involved
in the comptroller field. The organization sponsors research, provides professional programs on current
issues, and fosters the exchange of new comptroller techniques and approaches. ASMC was first established as the Society
of Military Accountants and Statisticians in
1948 and was open only to active duty officers. The organization has since expanded into 152
chapters with over 18,000 individual members, to include all Department of Defense and Coast Guard financial management personnel
worldwide. The Sequoyah Chapter, located at Tinker Air Force Base, serves the Oklahoma City community. Sequoyah
Chapter members include Team Tinker and Will Rogers Air National Guard personnel. Membership
is available to individuals who are actively employed in military comptrollership, as active duty or civilian personnel.
Associate membership is available for persons who do not meet the qualifications, but who demonstrate an interest in
the field. Employees of private sector companies who are interested in ASMC membership may join under the
corporate membership program.
